Books I've Written on Confidence
These are available in Kindle and Audiobook formats.
Self Confidence Secrets: How To Overcome Anxiety and Low Self Esteem with NLP
This was my first book on confidence. I've received particularly great feedback from executives and traders struggling with anxiety. There are some powerful exercises in this book that can really help with anxiety and changing your self image.
The Self-Confidence Handbook
If you like punchy, easy to read chapters, this is the book for you.
7 Weeks To Unstoppable Self Esteem
The Thrive Series on Personality Type
I published the first version of this series in 2014 and have since been updating the text. They're available in digital and print formats, with audiobooks coming soon. Print editions make great gifts.
The links below are to Amazon, but they are available on iBooks and a ton of other platforms, just search for my name and the type, like "Dan Johnston INTJ".

How We Think
It's been quite a journey, but I think I'm finally figuring it out and these books have really helped.
Spark
I've listened to this book twice. Not only is it an eye opener in terms of the science, but it's massively motivating to get off your ass an add more exercise to your routine.
Your Brain at Work
This book is dense but well worth the effort. It will change how you think about, well, thinking and allow you to get a lot more out of that thing you carry around in your skull.
Thinking, Fast and Slow
Daniel Kahneman is the Godfather. I'm sure there are 1000+ pop psychology books based off his research. Read this one.
Rest by Alex Soojung-Kim Pang
A book that encourages taking more vacations, working less hours, and having more fun with the promise of actually getting more done...I'm in!
Switch by Chip & Dan Heath
Sometimes we need to change more than our underwear...this book provides great ideas for making change more effectively.
Delivered from Distraction
If someone you care about may have ADD, get this book. If YOU have ADD, be sure to get it in audiobook format 🙂
Books I Love: The Big Stuff
This is where the subtitle about the section goes.
Mastery by Robert Greene
One reason I LOVED this book is that, well, it told me I was doing everything right and on track to be a Master. That was back in 2014 when I really needed the reassurance. It turns out many of the patterns us ENFPs have can actually be a great foundation for future mastery. Who knew?
The Laws of Human Nature
Humans are slightly more complicated than cats. This book will help you understand them a little bit better.
Sapiens
I absolutely loved this book. Goes far beyond a "history" into a deeper understanding of human nature and what the future may hold.
The Truth
I finished this audiobook in 2 days. It is one of the bravest, best written books I've ever "read".
Incredible Stories and Autobiographies
The River of Doubt
It's tough to include any other books in this section. Compared to The River of Doubt they all pale in terms of the awesomeness of the stories. This is an amazing story.
Total Recall
Coming in a close second is an incredible story of an incredible man. So many great insights into how he thinks and was able to accomplish so much.
Stories I Only Tell My Friends
This, and the next two books, aren't mind blowing epics, but do contain a ton of enjoyable stories and insights into life as an actor and creator of any kind. Sometimes it can be really nice to see "behind the scenes" and start to really understand what goes into a successful artistic career.
If Chins Could Kill
Not only a champion for all fighting the Evil Dead, a hilarious guy and great writer. I really enjoyed this book (and his characters in just about everything).
A Life In Parts
I'm always impressed when a successful, high-profile person includes really raw and honest material in their autobiography. Some great stories included here that a lesson person would have kept out "just in case" someone got upset.
Entrepreneur Autobiographies and Stories
The Fish That Ate The Whale
This beats out "The River of Doubt" as one of the most epic stories almost no one has ever heard of. Get this book. Do it. Just writing this now I think I'm going to download it again for another listen.
Shoe Dog
A great story of an entrepreneurial legend.
Losing My Virginity
Speaking of legends, and no offence to Phil Knight, but Branson is THE Entrepreneur's Entrepreneur and his books are fantastic.
Call Me Ted
I like crazy Entrepreneurs who do things like get on all 4s and bark at people during board meetings. If you do too, you'll enjoy this book.
Wisdom for Writers, Entrepreneurs, and Creators
These Books Have Helped Me Write
The War of Art
If you're ever feeling stuck in your creative pursuits this is the book for you. Having already read it a few times, these days it only takes a page or two to turn me back on and back to work.
On Writing by Stephen King
Who knew Stephen King was a good writer? After a few minutes of reading this I can't help but feel fired up to hit the ol' typewriter and get to work.
The Adweek Copywriting Handbook
One of my favourite books on copywriting. A great place to start to really understand the difference between "writing" and "copywriting".
The Four Hour Workweek
The original book that inspired millions of people and dozens of knockoffs. Pretty much every location independent entrepreneur I know under 40 was inspired by this book.
