The Truth About INTJ Personality Type
“When it comes to personality psychology, I’ve always found the best place to look is personal connections.”
When it comes to the 16 personalities and the level of knowledge one has when it comes to personality psychology, I’ve always found the best place to look is in personal connections.
INTJ Personality Type Explained
Of course, reading about types, watching videos and learning is really helpful but then if you can spend time with people who are that type and learn about them that way, tends to be one of the best ways, at least for me as an ENFP, to deepen that knowledge.
One of those types I want to talk about today is INTJ personality type. Not only because INTJ’s can be great partners for ENFPs, especially in the realm of business or building something, but because they are often miss-understood when someone’s fairly new to the 16 personalities.
It’s pretty common if someone is new to 16personalities and Myers Briggs to just talk pretty loosely, to mix up INTJs with types like an ESTJ, or ISTJ or people who are really, really strict about the rules, and tend to be how do we say, a little bit boring?
It’s not because they’re confusing the letters but you see TJ and a type and one of the things that happen again, being very casually not scientific about is – people will be like, “Oh, yeah, someone kind of boring and stuck up like an INTJ, or whatever…” The truth is INTJs can be one of the most dynamic and interesting personalities.
Two people very close to me are INTJs and they both live extremely alternative lifestyles and approach things in their own way. None of which fits into any kind of typical boxes. One such person is Rowan. Rowan, I met when he was 10 years old back in Vancouver, Canada, where I’m from through a program called Big Brothers. Big Brothers is a charity that matches boys who usually don’t have a great father figure in their life with some kind of older male role model to pair them up and basically, once a week you get together and do something.
Now when we were first matched up Rowan was 10, but he is now 21. and then when I started to travel the world, we couldn’t be part of the official program. But we’ve stayed in touch. He stayed with me in Spain for a month, we visited Italy and we caught up a lot when I was back in Vancouver, and I’m very excited to tell you we had a chance to sit down and do an extensive interview based on a few things.
First, turns out Rowan is an INTJ which might explain why we were one of Big Brother’s most successful matches they’ve had both in terms of longevity and a lack of problems – ENFP and INTJ match up. It also gives us a great window into alternative ways of living and thinking outside the box. Because in one of the most expensive unaffordable cities in the world, Rowan is living in prime real estate.
He’s living rent-free in an area where most other people are multimillionaires and he’s doing this all while working a full-time job and going to school and because of how he set himself up, has an amazingly affordable situation, and even a bit of extra cash. So the good news is me and Rowan sat down and we talked all about this.
There’s just one catch is that we only recorded the audio we were sitting up on this beautiful terrace I had with a great view. But because we were in a rush, we did not set up the camera equipment. So this interview is available on my podcast.
So I’m going to link to that in a card that will pop up in the video above, I’m going to link to it in the description and I might even put a comment link into it, head over to the podcast on whatever podcast player you use. Check out that interview you’ll find it really really interesting. I’ve already been told by a few people that it’s inspired them to start thinking about being part of the Big Brother’s program as well.
